Breeders' Cup: Invasor Named Horse of the Year

2006 Breeders Cup Classic winner Invasor, who is owned by Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum's Shadwell Stable, received top honors Monday night at the 36th annual Eclipse Awards at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel. Along with being named 2006 Horse of the Year, Invasor also picked up the champion older horse award.

The Eclipse Awards are voted on by members of Daily Racing Form, the National Turf Writers' Association, and the National Thoroughbred Association, which includes employees of Equibase.

Invasor makes history!

By becoming the first horse in the history of the Breeders’ Cup to win the Classic after a layoff of 13 weeks... by being the only horse ever to win the Breeders' Cup Classic following three consecutive grade I victories at three different distances (and at three different racetracks)...and by being the only champion bred out-of-country raced horse to win the Breeders' Cup Classic... Invasor has made his way into the history books.
